When Temp photos pass their retention window, a badge appears on the camera screen. Tap it to delete them all at once. iOS will ask for your confirmation before anything is removed.
Yes. During setup or later in Settings you can choose the same album for both, use separate albums, or skip album setup entirely. Custom albums are optional.
Yes. The first-launch splash is there to explain Keep, Temp, retention, expired badges, and lock screen setup, but you can continue straight into the camera even if you have not finished every setup choice yet.
Yes. LightRoll still needs at least Limited Photos access before it can save any captures. Full Photos access is required if you want LightRoll to choose or create custom Keep and Temp albums for you.
On iOS 18 and later, touch and hold your Lock Screen, tap Customise, choose Lock Screen, tap the Camera control, then pick LightRoll. This lets you replace the standard camera shortcut with LightRoll so Keep and Temp are always one swipe away.
Microphone access is only needed for video recording with sound. Photos and regular camera use do not require it. If you deny microphone access and want video audio later, you can turn it back on from the LightRoll permissions section in Settings.
No. Your photos never leave your device. There are no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Deleted photos go to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app, where they stay for 30 days before being permanently removed. You can recover them from there.
